Williamsburg Man Arrested on Marijuana, Child Support Charges

A Williamsburg man was arrested on marijuana cultivation and flagrant non-support charges.

Williamsburg Police Public Affairs Officer Shawn Jackson said K-9 Officer Brandon Prewitt responded, along with Kentucky State Police to a residence in the Canada Town community of Whitley County to investigate a complaint of an individual allegedly threatening people with a gun. Jimmy Ray Canada was not arrested in connection with the original complaint, but officers discovered that he was being sought in the child support round-up conducted Tuesday. Also, officers observed marijuana growing around the residence.

Canada, age 33, was charged with cultivating five or more marijuana plants and flagrant non-support and was lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
