Governor Steve Beshear recognized the sacrifice of three Fort Campbell soldiers who died in Afghanistan.
According to the Department of Defense, Pfc. Nathaniel Garvin, age 20, of Radcliff Kentucky, died July 12 in Afghanistan of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.
Spc. Carlos Negron, age 40, died July 10 when insurgents attacked his unit with rifle and small arms fire.
Sgt. Shaun Mittler, age 32, died July 10, if injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his unit using rocket-propelled grenade and small arms fire.
The governor will direct that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of each soldiers’ interment, for which arrangements are pending.
