Man Allegedly Assaults Neighbor with Pitchfork

An elderly Wayne County man is facing an assault charge for an incident that occurred during a property dispute.

Trooper First Class Don Trosper, public affairs officer of the London state police post, said Trooper First Class Parrish Baker responded to an area on KY 1619 in Wayne County to investigate a complaint relating to a confrontation between property owners.

According to the investigation, Lloyd Sheppard had been inspecting property markers from a recent survey of his land in the area when he was apparently confronted by 65-year-old Peter Krauss, who owns the adjacent land.

Trooper Trosper said during the confrontation, Krauss allegedly assaulted Sheppard with a pitchfork, resulting in a  stab wound to Sheppard’s left hand.

Sheppard, age 46, was treated and released at the Wayne County Hospital.

Krauss was charged with first degree assault and lodged in the Wayne County Detention Center.

Trooper Baker is continuing the investigation.
