Kentucky Awarded Nearly $1 Million for Job Training

Governor Steve Beshear announced Kentucky will receive nearly $1 million On-The-Job Training National Emergency Grant funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Funds will provide training to approximately 160 long-term unemployed workers in Kentucky.

According to the Governor’s Office, Local Workforce Investment Act Areas will contract with about 64 employers across the state to provide training through the grant. The training is provided under a contract with an employer in the public, private non-profit and private sector. Through the contract, employers will be reimbursed by at least 50 percent of the cost of wages, possibly more, based on a sliding scale and depending on the size of the company.
