With summer heat predicted to peak this week, issues like overexertion, heat stroke and dehydration have become important health concerns.
The Department for Public Health says following basic precautions can make the difference between just being hot or being seriously ill.
The DPH suggests following tips, including;
Stay cool indoors. The most efficient way the beat the heat is to stay in an air-conditioned area. If you do not have air conditioning, consider visiting a mall of public library.
If you must be out in the heat, try to plan activities before noon or in the evening.
Drink plenty of fluids.
Wear appropriate clothing and sunscreen.
Monitor the condition of your co-workers when working in the heat.
And, always monitor those at high risk, including infants and children, the elderly and people who are overweight.
