State Fire Marshall Reminds Kentuckians of Firework Safety

Kentucky State Fire Marshall’ Williams Swope Jr. is encouraging Kentuckians to attend community fireworks displays instead of celebrating with fireworks at home.

Swope said Kentucky law doesn’t allow consumers to use the kind of fireworks that can be viewed at professional shows. For home use, the law permits only “Class C Safe and Sane” fireworks. If a firework explodes in the air, it’s illegal.

Locally, fireworks displays and 4th of July celebrations will be held in London, Corbin, Barbourville and Williamsburg. All fireworks displays will be held on Saturday, July 3.

In London,  fireworks will begin at 9:20 p.m. at College Park.

In Corbin,  fireworks will begin at 9:30 p.m. at the Arena.

In Barbourville, fireworks will begin at dusk at the Barbourville City Waterpark.

Williamsburg’s fireworks display will begin at 9:30 p.m. at Kentucky Splash Waterpark.
